On Wednesday, November 10, a Blood Drive was held in the Middle/High School Gym through the Community Blood Bank. We had 44 donors and were able to save 132 lives! All of the blood that was donated will stay local. Thank you to all of the students, staff, and community members who donated. Our next Blood Drive will be held on Friday, March 11 at the Middle/High School. All are welcome! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Lindsey Bennink at lbennink@cvcougars.org.
Students in 3rd-5th grade have been working collaboratively over the last few weeks in Ms. Goot's class to create art in honor of Veterans Day. Students learned what it means to be a Veteran, and how their artwork could make a difference to someone that receives it. All projects will be donated to the local legion and gifted to Veterans at their dinner on Thursday!
Dear CVCS families,
The Frewsburg Central School District recently posted an opening for their High School Principal job. In response to that posting, Josh Gilevski interviewed and at last night’s school board meeting in Frewsburg, he was appointed to be their next Middle/High School Principal. This is a definite loss for our district, but it is a great opportunity for Mr. G. He and his wife, Shannon, grew up and live in Frewsburg, and their four children are Frewsburg students, as well.
Mr. Gilevski has been an employee of CVCS for 17 years and has worked as a school counselor, a K-2 Principal, Middle/High School Principal, and of course, most recently the Principal at SES.
While it is always difficulty to lose someone like Mr. G, it is also wonderful to see a great individual have an exciting opportunity that will be nice for his family and good for another local school. The good work that he will do there will, in large part, be a result of all the experiences he has had here at CVCS. I’m going to miss working with him and our students, faculty and staff will, too. I’m proud of him and excited to see all that he will do when he takes over as the next Frewsburg CSD Middle/High School Principal.
We will begin looking for his replacement immediately and we will keep the school family informed as we move through this process. Mr. G’s last day here at SES will be Friday, December 10, 2021.
Sincerely,
Mr. Leichner, Superintendent

CVHS goes purple for National Epilepsy Awareness Month! A member of the Key Club with epilepsy organized this whole day. She talked with Mr. Tonelli and got her ideas approved, then posters were hung and informative epilepsy announcements were made all week. Each high school homeroom student was given a purple ribbon sticker (selected by the Key Club member) and some random purple necklaces were distributed. Many students and staff wore purple today to raise awareness, and we thank the student for her diligence and initiative!
The Red Kettle Campaign will begin at the Sinclairville Superette on November 29 and we are currently looking for community volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Ryan Smith 716-962-5195; ext. 2404 or email him at rsmith@cvcougars.org.
REMINDER:
There will be no school on Thursday, November 11 in honor of Veterans Day. There will be no school for students on Friday, November 12, as that is a staff in-service day.
The Social Studies Honors Class and various students in Mrs. Richir’s room at the middle-high school helped to create clothes pin magnetic note holders for local veterans through the help of the Northern Chautauqua County Community Foundation grant. The students wanted to acknowledge the veterans' sacrifices for our country on Veterans Day and to say thank you for their service. These will be dropped off to the Cassadaga American Legion Post 1280.
The Cassadaga Valley Faculty Association will be hosting its annual Middle School Honors Dinner on Wednesday, November 17. Students in grades 6-8 who achieved Honor or Merit roll every quarter last school year have received a letter inviting them to this special event. Dinner will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the middle/high school cafeteria. Congratulations to our hard-working students and their families!
The Chautauqua County Health Department is conducting free, large COVID-19 vaccination clinics for 5-11 year olds.

On November 19th, parents have the opportunity to set up a conference with any of their child's teachers for our Middle/High School Parent/Teacher Conferences. Please take a look at the attached, choose a time that works best for you, and make an appointment to either come to the building, have a Zoom meeting set up, or have our teachers contact you by phone.
