Taps Across The Valley 2022: It was a rainy Veterans Day, but several of our CVCS Band students honored our Veterans by performing Taps on Veterans Day at 11:00 a.m. at their homes. This is the 2nd year for many of these students to participate in Taps for Veterans. Thank you for your service, Veterans!

Dear Cougar Families - I'm writing to make you aware of a situation that is taking place at the school right now. A young student in our middle school broke her arm and to make access easier for first responders we placed the middle/high school in a brief shelter in place. That keeps other children out of the hall as paramedics and other support personnel come and go through our hallways. We only stay in a shelter in place long enough to provide the injured or ill student with privacy as the emergency is managed. Unfortunately, the injury is serious enough that Star Flight has been called. This child's parents are on sight and the emergency responders are with them in the nurse's office. To be clear, while this is a serious injury, it only involves one student. The rest of our student body will be going on with the remainder of their day as usual. We expect the helicopter to arrive shortly - but there is no safety concern in the building.
All winter sports practices start Monday, November 14th except Modified Boys Basketball which starts January 3rd. Contact your coaches or Kay McElwain for practice times! Modified Girls Basketball will open up with a home game Monday at 5pm!

The Key Club was asked by SUNY Fredonia’s Chapter of Tau Sigma to write 50 cards for active service members. The cards will be added to care packages going out this Thanksgiving.

Important CVCS Safety Update:
I am excited to introduce Mr. Floyd Kent as our new full-time School Safety Advisor. Officer Kent is a Chautauqua County native and has served our region as a law enforcement officer for over 25 years. He starts his work with us today and you will see him in and out of all our buildings every day from now on. We are excited to welcome him to the Cougar family!
The majority of Officer Kent’s career was spent working for the Jamestown Police Department and he retired from the City of Jamestown in 2018. Since his retirement he worked as a Senior Investigator for the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office. During his years of service as a Police Officer, Officer Kent has been a member Jamestown’s elite SWAT team, a Firearms Instructor, Field Training Officer, General Topics Instructor, Domestic Violence Educator/Officer, Evidence Technician, Narcotics Investigator, and Team Manager for the Chautauqua County Forensic Investigation Team. He also attended training schools in Police Supervision, Critical Incident Management, Suicide Prevention Instruction, Narcotics Detection, Drugs that Impair, Rapid Deployment and Active Shooter Training to name a few.
Officer Kent will have an office at the Middle/High School building but he will be in both the Elementary and Middle/High school buildings each day. He will attend countless after school and extracurricular activities as well.
Please take a moment to introduce yourself when you see Officer Kent - we are thrilled to have him on our team!
